WOMEN IN A DUAL BOARD SYSTEM AND DIVIDEND POLICY

We investigate whether firms with the presence of female on its board commissioners and directors are associated higher dividend policy. This paper uses Indonesian setting as a country dual system implying that role is explicitly separated. Using panel data 525 publicly listed in Indonesia between 2011 2018, we find women's has different impacts policy depending their an executive or non-executive board. Female negatively cash payments, while positively impact payment case family-controlled only. Our results contribute to literature gender diversity by showing roles behavior boards each tier corporate policy, thus providing insights governance two-tiered developing countries.
